Chrissy Leach

Chrissy brings a diverse education and experience to her Pilates sessions, ensuring results for advanced or professional athletes, exercise enthusiasts with chronic pain, and those who suffer from pain due to musculoskeletal imbalances.  She teaches the Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, Half Barrel, and Pilates Mat work from beginning to the most advanced levels. Her degree in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Austin facilitates her ability to connect Pilates knowledge to the musculoskeletal system, biomechanics, and the psychology of exercise.

Movement has been intrinsic to Chrissy’s life since she was three years old.  From her love of gymnastics as a child, to her twenty years of ballet and dance experience, to her eighteen years of working as a full time trainer, Chrissy is passionate about the role that movement plays in strengthening and stabilizing the body.  Having seen firsthand this effect in her own training, Chrissy has dedicated her life and expertise to helping clients experience the benefits of technique-based movement, not only in strengthening and toning their bodies, but even in healing and preventing injuries.  For Chrissy, teaching clients is more than a profession — it’s a vocation, one that she’s been working towards for most of her life.

After working as a full time trainer in Austin, Oakland, San Francisco, and Houston, Chrissy founded her business, Align Body, which is now a part of Rice University.  In a constant effort to better serve her clients, Chrissy regularly attends specialized classes to expand her expertise and refine her craft. Currently, she is studying Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) with Greg Roskopf in Denver, Colorado.  MAT is a system of body work that targets joint asymmetry and muscle problems and aims to restore proper functioning.  After performing mobility tests that identify which muscles are inactive or limiting joint function, MAT Practitioners are trained to precisely activate each muscle weakness.  MAT sessions are highly effective in restoring symmetry and balance to the body’s muscular system, improving joint stability and muscle strength, and reducing pain.  Presently, Chrissy is a Muscle Activation Technique Specialist for the Upper Body, Lower Body and Trunk and Spine.
